Trailer

Plot summary

In the summer of 1978 in Chicago, Xavier and his skating crew, Junior, Boo, Naps and Mixed Mike, lose their neighborhood rink, the Palisade Garden, when it closes. With their new neighbor Tori along, they move to Sweetwater, an uptown rink where five-time contest champion Sweetness and his crew mock them. The boys enter the end-of-summer contest to earn their place there, though their skating is modest next to the trick skaters around them. At home, Xavier's relationship with his father Curtis is strained; Curtis, raising him and his sister Sonya after their mother's death, wants him doing chores instead of skating. Xavier also runs into Naomi, an old crush.
