Deep Roy
Biography
Deep Roy is a Nairobi-born British actor, stuntman and puppeteer who is known for playing small-statured parts. He got his start in 1970 as a stand-up comedian in English cabaret venues, then took a stage role in a Ray Cooney play, Miracle Worker, in Westcliff-on-Sea. His screen acting debut came in 1976, on an episode of The New Avengers, and his first film that year was The Pink Panther Strikes Again. He played Teeny Weeny in The NeverEnding Story (1984), the Tin Woodman in Return to Oz (1985), Mr. Toones in Howling VI: The Freaks (1991), and Keenser in Star Trek (2009) and its sequels, including Star Trek Beyond (2016). For Tim Burton he appeared in Big Fish (2003), voiced General Bonesapart in Corpse Bride (2005), and played all 165 Oompa-Loompas in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005). He also played Aaron in Eastbound & Down and took several roles in Blake's 7.

Roy had extensive training for his role in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, learning dance, yoga, and some minor instrument playing. He portrayed all 165 Oompa-Loompas in the 2005 film.

Roy stood in for the Jedi Master Yoda in The Empire Strikes Back. Though uncredited on the film, he appears in many behind-the-scenes photos, wearing a Yoda costume for perspective shots made near the end of production.

Roy enrolled at The Slim Wood School of Comedy. In England in 1970 he got his start in entertainment, doing stand-up comedy in cabaret clubs in the local area.
