Plot summary
The Trash Humpers are a gang of elderly peeping toms in Nashville. They roam the streets at night, trespassing, vandalizing property and disturbing the peace. Hervé does much of the filming as they record themselves on worn VHS tape. They meet a young boy, mock him for failing to sink basketball shots, and encourage his violent and disturbing tendencies. For Buddy, their oldest member, they throw a birthday party that he spends mostly on the toilet, suffering constipation. Two men in hospital gowns and adjoining hats are made to eat pancakes covered in dish soap. Baby dolls recur throughout, dragged behind bicycles or asphyxiated with plastic bags. All their actions involve peer pressure or ritualistic antics.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Trash Humpers (2009)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Korine cut the film on two VCRs to build in randomness, wanting an "incidental awkwardness", as though the person taping had switched it off and on.
- Korine considered leaving the film on a sidewalk or scattering its parts across different flea markets to be unearthed at random and pieced together, but decided against it when he realized the copyright could not hold that way.
- The film grew out of two things: trash bins strewn on the ground of Nashville back alleys that, under overhead lights, looked like beaten and "very humpable" human forms, and Korine's teenage memory of elderly peeping toms who came out at night.
- Upset over the bureaucracy of producing his previous and still most expensive feature, Mister Lonely, Korine aimed to make Trash Humpers as fast as he could and, as a self-proclaimed "mistakist artist", encouraged spontaneity.
