Plot summary
Ricky Hayman and Kate Newell work for John McBainbridge at the Good Buy Shopping Network. Sales have dropped for two years under Ricky, and Kate was brought in to supply fresh ideas. Ricky treats her as a threat, and she dislikes him in return. McBainbridge gives Ricky an ultimatum: raise the numbers or lose his job. Driving one day, the pair nearly hit a man in white robes who calls himself G, endlessly happy and smiling. He picks up on how troubled Ricky is and trails them to the studio. G drifts onto an infomercial set; with him on the air, calls from customers wanting to buy rise, and Kate hands him a slot selling products on the channel.
