Plot summary
An MI6 field team gathers at a ski resort in the Italian Alps to extract Mulvaney, an arms dealer. Rachel Stone, the team's technician, is secretly an agent of the Charter, a peacekeeping operation guided by a quantum computer called the Heart. A gunfight breaks out during the operation; Stone pretends to be injured so she can slip away and follow instructions from a Charter agent named Jack. Back in London, her superior Nomad reprimands her for risking her cover. Stone traces a hacker she spotted in the Alps to Keya Dhawan, an orphan connected to Indian criminal syndicates. After the Charter passes Keya's location to MI6, the team sets out to track her down.
