Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Skin Trade (2014)

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.

  • Dolph Lundgren began developing Skin Trade after reading a news report about a group of girls being smuggled into the United States from Mexico who were left in a vehicle at the border and died there of heat stroke and suffocation.
  • John Hyams performed seven uncredited revisions of the Skin Trade script, mostly about the setting, as Dolph Lundgren sought financing. The story was originally set in Russia, and Lundgren personally scouted locations and actors and sought money in Moscow before changing the setting to Southeast Asia.
  • Peter Weller was the original choice to play the villain Viktor Dragovic in Skin Trade, but because of scheduling issues the role went to Ron Perlman instead.
  • Tony Jaa filmed his fight scenes without using wirework or CGI and performed all of his own stunts, feeling that this would give his character "more depth" and let him better display his acting abilities.
  • Filming in Thailand was disrupted by real public protests during the country's political crisis, forcing cast and crew to leave earlier than planned each day just to get through the traffic and reach the set on time.
  • Skin Trade was the first film to be shot in English by an organization based in Asia, outside of Hong Kong, for an international theatrical release.
