Plot summary
Emily, Johnny, Maddy, Ricky, Q, Sylvia and Tim are the seven students chosen for a field trip to a private island, crossing on the boat of Captain J.T. Bates with their teacher, Mr. Argento. Their hosts are Vincent King and his wife Mary Shelley, who keeps a hand-held recorder pointed at the group and calls herself an aspiring director. After dinner comes a bonfire on the beach, where Q is startled by a figure dressed as a clown and the others wave off his story. Sheriff Stoker comes to the island looking for a missing hunter and questions the couple, who say they have not seen him. Then members of the group begin to disappear, and the phone lines are down.
