Slaine
Biography
Slaine is the stage name of George Carroll, an American rapper and actor. He grew up in Boston and later relocated to New York City, where he started rapping and recording hip-hop. By the early 2000s he had become a figure in Boston's hip-hop scene, putting out mixtapes and the album Stereotypez (2007) with his group Special Teamz, then A Brand You Can Trust (2009) with the rap supergroup La Coka Nostra. His first solo record, A World With No Skies 2.0 (2011), charted, and Boston Music Awards named him Hip Hop Artist of the Year. Ben Affleck cast him in his first acting role, Gone Baby Gone (2007), and in The Town (2010); the cast of The Town won ensemble awards from the National Board of Review and from the Washington DC Area Film Critics Association. Other screen work includes the horror film GirlHouse (2014), in which he played the main antagonist, and the Netflix movie Wheelman (2017).

About the name
Slaine got his stage name from Kaves of the rap group Lordz of Brooklyn, who nicknamed him after an Irish comic book character while he was recording a demo in their studio.
