Plot summary
Foo Fighters: Back and Forth follows sixteen years of the American rock band, from the first songs Dave Grohl taped as cassette demos while he was drumming in Nirvana to the group that headlines stadiums. The film draws on more than a thousand hours of footage, old and new, and on interviews with the band's current members and with two former members, William Goldsmith and Franz Stahl. A second thread follows the making of Wasting Light, the seventh album, which Grohl chose to record in the garage of his home in Encino, California. Grohl has said that decision was the main inspiration for the film.
