Plot summary
Fred Fitzell works in an office and is married to Karen. The two visit his mother in the hospital, where her mind is in severe decline. Fred begins to have vivid flashbacks of high school, and of a girl named Cindy Williams. He returns to his old high school, where a librarian tells him that Cindy disappeared after a drug circulated at the school. Fred reaches out to his high school friends, and recalls the mercury they took in the school's boiler room.
