Finding Bliss (2009) on Netflix

Plot summary

With student awards and a finished script, Jody Balaban leaves New York film school for Los Angeles, set on directing her own movie. After a year temping on a studio lot, nobody has read her script, and the only well-paying industry job she is offered is at Grind Productions, an adult film company run by Irene Fox, a former performer. The prospect horrifies Jody, as does what her strict Jewish parents would say. Then she sees that Grind has all the facilities her own movie needs, and she begins filming there at night without the company's knowledge. Jeff Drake, who directs the company's adult films, is an award-winning filmmaker who once hoped to make serious films himself, and he sees his own old idealism in Jody.
