Plot summary

Cayce Bridges earns a living as a psychic who consults on homicide investigations: she links her mind with murderers and gives the police clues about who they are and where they are. The nonfiction books she writes about those cases have made her a minor celebrity, though the work traumatizes her and she wants to quit. Her manager and friend Jessica Moreau reports that publishers only want more of the same, and can offer a deal for two novels if she takes one last case. Detectives Webber and Wu are hunting the Shadow Man, who leaves the words Fear me written in blood, and Cayce joins them. A victim's memories tell her that he kills each person with their greatest fear.
