Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.

  • Trimark Pictures canceled Extreme Justice's planned April 1993 theatrical release because of the 1992 Los Angeles riots, and shifted the film to HBO, where it aired on June 26, 1993.
  • Director Mark L. Lester said the film was based on real police practice, in which officers waited until after a crime had been committed to make arrests; he cited a scene where officers wait in a car until a rape is over before moving in.
