Plot summary
On Arturos, a planet whose people are far smaller than Earth's, cop Brick Bardo is already on suspension over his rough methods, and a criminal's hostage standoff at a laundry brings him more trouble. Kidnapped and left on a desert plain, he faces his enemy Sprug, who plans to shoot him with his own blaster. Bardo gets the weapon back, follows Sprug's ship, and both pass through an energy band that brings them to Earth. In the Bronx, Braxton Red's gang rules the neighborhood, and single mother Debi Alejandro wants the police to do more. When three gangsters threaten her at home, Bardo drives them off, and she takes him and his ship to meet her son Kevin.
