Disappearing Acts (2000) on Netflix

Plot summary

Zora Banks leaves Manhattan for a brownstone she has had renovated in Brooklyn, and finds Franklin Swift still polishing the floors, not yet dry. Her moving men abandon her furniture on the sidewalk, so she asks him to help carry everything inside, and he stays to help her unpack. He later waits on her stoop, she invites him in, and the attraction between them is plain. Over home-cooked meals, Scrabble and television, they trade their plans: Zora wants to sing, and Franklin wants his contracting business to get off the ground. Both say they had delayed love until they had themselves together. Franklin tells her he is not a wealthy man, and Zora answers that she is not looking for one.
