Plot summary
Jason Kelly works as a corporate lawyer at the Atlanta firm his father, David, runs. His grandmother has died, and at the funeral his grandfather, Dick, a former Army lieutenant colonel, asks for a ride to Florida because his own driver's license is suspended. Jason is due to marry Meredith, his controlling fiancée, in a week and promises to be back for the rehearsal dinner, but he goes anyway. At a diner the two run into Shadia, whom Jason knew in a photography class, and her friends Lenore and Bradley. Dick introduces himself as a university professor and Jason as a photographer for Time. He steers the trip toward the spring break crowds at Daytona Beach, where he hopes to sleep with Lenore.
