Plot summary
Cooper is a Chicago journalist whose memory was damaged by a concussion. His mother asks him to help move Uncle Rollie, whose own memory is fading, into a care home. Cooper's boss gives him a few days, and he drives back to his rural hometown, where Rollie refuses to leave. Rollie's hope is a rare baseball card from 1908, a Chicago Cub, possibly worth enough to keep him at home with hired help. Cooper joins Charlotte, a high-school flame who has recently divorced, and her son, and the group sets out for a memorabilia market with Rollie. Rollie keeps the card in his pocket, and others would like to get it from him.
