Plot summary
Belgian detective Hercule Poirot is on holiday in Egypt when he runs into his friend Bouc, who is with the wedding party of heiress Linnet Ridgeway and Simon Doyle. The guests on their Nile cruise include Linnet's maid Louise Bourget, her cousin Andrew, her godmother Marie Van Schuyler, the blues singer Salome Otterbourne and her niece Rosalie, and Linnet's former fiancé, Dr. Linus Windlesham. Linnet asks Poirot to protect her from Jacqueline de Bellefort, her childhood friend, who introduced Simon to her and now follows the couple. She also admits she distrusts everyone around her. A boulder nearly crushes the couple at the Abu Simbel Temples, and then Jacqueline boards the Karnak. By the following morning a passenger has been found dead.

- Disney spent $18 million on television commercials for the film, but its promotion was complicated by sexual assault allegations against Armie Hammer and, to a lesser extent, the anti-vaccine stances of Russell Brand and Letitia Wright. Hammer gave no promotional interviews and was not featured on an individual character poster.
- The film was banned in Lebanon and Kuwait because of Gal Gadot's former association with the Israel Defense Forces, but it was allowed to be released in Saudi Arabia and Tunisia.
- Death on the Nile opened in China on February 19, 2022, making it the first Hollywood blockbuster released in the Chinese market after The Matrix Resurrections, which opened there on January 14, 2022.
- The production recreated a boat and the Abu Simbel temples, and a replica of the Tiffany Yellow Diamond was used for the film.
- Gal Gadot's delivery of the line "enough champagne to fill the Nile" in one scene became a popular Internet meme.
