Emma Mackey
Biography
Emma Mackey is a British-French actress whose first professional part came in the Netflix comedy-drama Sex Education. She played Maeve Wiley, a clever student who persuades a classmate to start a secret therapy service at school. That role brought her acclaim, a nomination for a British Academy Television Award in 2021, and a National Comedy Award in 2022. She then appeared in the independent romantic drama Eiffel (2021), and starred in the mystery thriller Death on the Nile (2022) as Jacqueline de Bellefort. Her first lead film role was the novelist Emily Brontë in Emily (2022). In 2023 she appeared in Barbie and won the BAFTA Rising Star Award. In 2025 she took the title part in Ella McCay, a romantic comedy directed by James L. Brooks.
