Criminal (2004) on Netflix

Plot summary

Richard Gaddis presents himself as a well-to-do businessman, convinced that a successful con requires the look of a professional; in truth he is a small-time crook. He wants a partner for more elaborate schemes and spots Rodrigo running minor cons in a casino-bar. Rodrigo gets caught, and Gaddis, posing as a vice officer, saves him from arrest. Gaddis tests Rodrigo before proposing a partnership that would let Rodrigo pay off his ill father's gambling debts. Though he distrusts Gaddis, Rodrigo agrees, and the two set out to sell a forged silver certificate to William Hannigan, a rich collector in town.
