Plot summary
'Doc' Penny and two other convicts break out of San Quentin. A gas station robbery for money leaves a police officer dead, and gang member Gat Morgan is badly wounded. Detective Sims leads the search across the city and orders prison records checked for former inmates who might take the fugitives in. Steve Lacey has stayed out of trouble since his own release, working as an aircraft mechanic and living with his wife Ellen. Morgan turns up at the Laceys' door, hurt and unable to move.
