Phyllis Kirk

Phyllis Kirk was an American actress known for her roles in 1950s film and television. Born in Syracuse, New York, and raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey, she moved to New York City as a teenager to study acting and shortened her surname to Kirk. She appeared on Broadway in 1949 productions including My Name is Aquilon and the road company of Present Laughter, then signed a long-term contract with Samuel Goldwyn. Her films included House of Wax (1953), the 3D horror film with Vincent Price, Back from Eternity (1956), and The Sad Sack (1957). Her most notable television part came in The Thin Man, where she played opposite Peter Lawford from 1957 to 1959, and she received an Emmy nomination in 1959. She was also a regular on The Red Buttons Show. After leaving show business, she worked in public relations for CBS News and retired in 1992.
