Plot summary

During Prohibition, Frankie Madison and Noll Turner ran liquor together and agreed that whichever of them was caught would still collect an equal share afterward. Frankie was caught and served 14 years. Noll escaped and now owns the Regency, a fashionable New York nightclub. On his release Frankie goes straight to Noll to settle the old bargain. Noll stalls him, passing him to Kay Lawrence, the club's singer and Noll's girlfriend, who is told to find out what he wants. Frankie says only that he expects Noll to keep his word. Noll answers that their agreement covered a club he closed years earlier.
