Plot summary
The residents of Sesame Street are getting ready for Christmas. Bert and Ernie each want to give the other a present, but neither has any money. Cookie Monster hopes Santa Claus will bring him cookies and tries to reach him by letter and by telephone, while Gordon suggests he simply leave cookies out. Oscar the Grouch plants a doubt in Big Bird's mind: if Santa Claus cannot fit down a chimney, nobody on the street will get presents. Big Bird sets out to learn how Santa manages it, and Kermit the Frog and Grover help by interviewing children on the subject, though the answers they collect vary.
