Plot summary
In Los Angeles, Yasmin, Cloe, Sasha and Jade begin their freshman year of high school as four best friends. Meredith Baxter Dimly, the rich and controlling student body president, has other ideas: she sorts every student into a clique and sees the girls' independence as a problem. Cloe makes the soccer team and meets Cameron, Sasha joins the cheerleading squad, Jade takes to the science club and fashion design, and Yasmin joins the journalism club. Each finds new interests and new people, and Meredith's system keeps them apart. Though they try to make time for one another, their own schedules and new friends leave little room, and the four begin to drift.
