Plot summary
Jimmy's flute turns into Freddy, a golden flute that talks, after Jimmy is ejected from his school band for tripping. They set off on a journey. Witchiepoo arranges for the boy to reach Living Island on an evil boat, and everything on that island is alive. Jimmy makes friends with the inhabitants, whose leader is Mayor H.R. Pufnstuf. Witchiepoo keeps a castle there, and she wants Freddy for herself, hoping to win the Witch of the Year Award and to please the Boss Witch, who is arriving with a Witches' Council.
