Plot summary
On Christmas Eve in Victorian London, the rich moneylender Ebenezer Scrooge has his henchman Old Joe lock clients who owe him money in a debtors' prison, among them Dr. Lambert, who runs a children's hospital whose debts now belong to Scrooge. Belle, once Scrooge's fiancée and now a nurse, leaves a letter begging his forgiveness with his clerk, Bob Cratchit. Scrooge refuses a Christmas dinner invitation from his nephew Fred and drenches a group of carolers, among them Bob's youngest son, Tiny Tim, with cold water. That night the ghost of his late partner, Jacob Marley, appears in chains and warns that three spirits will visit him.
