The Velveteen Rabbit (2009) on Netflix

Plot summary

When his widowed father John buries himself in work, young Toby is left for weeks, Christmas included, with his stern grandmother Ellen. The only other company in her house is the driver-butler Henry. Toby, who is sensitive and deeply sad, would rather be with his father. In his father's childhood room he finds a velveteen rabbit and other animal toys, and in his mind the toys come to life while he plays with them. The rabbit has one wish, to become a real rabbit someday. What grows between the boy and the toy stirs feeling in the household around him and in the toy land as well.
