Plot summary

Corinne lives on a Gascony farm with her mother and dreams of following her father, D'Artagnan, into the Musketeers. She travels to Paris with her kitten Miette and her horse Alexander, only to learn that the corps admits no women. At the palace she is mocked, and a dog snatches her letter to Monsieur Treville, who tells her she is not ready. Madame de Bossé hires her as a maid, where Aramina, Viveca and Renée befriend her and confess the same ambition. Corinne also meets Prince Louis. Hélène, an elderly maid who overheard the girls, leads them to a forgotten musketeer training room and agrees to teach them swordplay.

Barbie and the Three Musketeers was the first Barbie direct-to-video film to have its distribution outside North America handled fully by Universal Pictures International instead of Entertainment Rights, under a new deal with Mattel.
For the tie-in video game, Game Director Adam Tierney made the combat keep the animation's dancer-like movement, mixing dancing and fencing with a Shaolin sword-fighting flair so the characters were not just repeating canned slashes.
In the tie-in game, all four playable characters were given abilities as an homage to NES-era games: Corinne could hang from ceilings like Grant Danasty in Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse, and Viveca swung on long ribbons like Nathan 'Rad' Spencer in Bionic Commando.
