Plot summary
Nicky Talbot is a single mother who needs work, and with the holiday season near she applies for a seasonal position at Cartwright's. The store's senior vice president, Fiona Aldrich, rejects her, worried that Nicky could come between her and Bill, the store manager. Harry Osbourne, a consultant from corporate headquarters, suggests a different opening: Santa Claus. Nicky takes it, dressing as Santa, and keeps the fact that she is a woman hidden. Out of costume she meets Bill, and the two begin to spend time together. Bill, unaware of who is inside the suit, asks Santa for advice about her. Nicky feels guilty that she cannot confide in him.
