Plot summary
Charleston is a trickster who picks a mark he takes for easy prey, and the mark turns the trick around, taking him for five million dollars. In London he is arrested for carrying a false identity. Joe Lo Monaco, meanwhile, owns a steamship with a large casino, and a band of evildoers has been exploiting him for his roulette gambling earnings. Lo Monaco wants to destroy the ship, but the vessel is insured, so sinking it would cost him heavily. The offer of that work is what gets Charleston out of his cell.
