James Coco
Biography
James Coco was an American actor of stage, film and television. Born in Manhattan's Little Italy and raised in the Bronx, he began acting after high school and trained at HB Studio. His Broadway debut came in 1957 with Hotel Paradiso, and he won an Obie for The Moon in Yellow River. He collaborated with Terrence McNally on Next, earning a Drama Desk Award. The Last of the Red Hot Lovers was written for him by Neil Simon, bringing a Tony nomination. Coco was known for supporting roles in Man of La Mancha (1972) and Murder by Death (1976), and Only When I Laugh (1981), the last earning Oscar and Razzie nominations. Other films included The Cheap Detective (1978), A New Leaf (1971) and The Muppets Take Manhattan (1984). On television he won an Emmy for St. Elsewhere and had a recurring role on Who's the Boss?. He died in 1987, Hunk (1987) and That's Adequate (1989) were released afterward.
