Plot summary
The Great Truce between dogs and cats has held for a decade, and two secret agents are part of what keeps it: Roger, a Border Collie who once worked in the field and now sits at a desk, and Gwen, a cat. Both live in the same Seattle-area building as their owners, Max, a middle school tennis player whose mother expects him to win a state championship, and Zoe, whose father Ollie is a musician behind on the rent. Old Ed, a Golden Retriever, sends Roger and Gwen to investigate a plot against the truce, and they recruit their neighbor Duke, a Rottweiler. With their communications down, the three patrol the neighborhood, and a dog in the park suggests the alley cats may know something.
