Plot summary
A boy wanders into a relic shop, where the owner, Mr. Liu, tells him the tale of Ninjago City, which the warlord Lord Garmadon regularly attacks with his sea-life army. Ninjago's people despise Garmadon's son Lloyd for his parentage, not knowing he leads a secret ninja team of Kai, Cole, Jay, Zane and Nya under Master Wu. When Garmadon's raids fail once more, his tech division builds him a giant mech. Returning from a long trip, Wu tells the ninjas that mechs alone will not defeat Garmadon, that each of them has a unique element, and that Lloyd's is green. Garmadon advances on the city with his new machine.
