Plot summary
Clint Goodman lives under the assumed name Michael Haden, in poor health from the toxin used in an attempt on his life. When his friend Sheriff Sam Eberly dies, Clint returns for the funeral, and Sam's niece Laura Riskin spots him before he slips away. Laura has inherited stock worth $250,000 from Sam. She wants to start a family, while her husband Randy hates the small town and dreams of buying a yacht and leaving. Randy is also seeing Roxanne, who is tired of waiting for him. Laura forgives Randy and believes he has changed. At dinner that evening he slips the same toxin into her wine.
