Plot summary
Narcotics detective Sal Procida has begun stealing money from drug raids to cover the down payment on a larger house for his pregnant wife and their four children; the sum is due the following Tuesday. Eddie Dugan, an alcoholic officer with 22 years on the force, has one week left before retirement and a rookie to supervise. Clarence 'Tango' Butler works undercover, and after years of promised promotions, federal Agent Smith offers him detective first grade if he arranges a drug deal that will send his friend Caz Phillips, newly released from federal prison, back behind bars. All three work out of Brooklyn's 65th precinct.

The part of Man Man in Brooklyn's Finest was given to Zaire Paige, a gang member from the neighborhood. Three months after filming, he was involved in an October 2008 murder, for which he was sentenced to 107 years to life in prison.- Michael C. Martin wrote the script for Brooklyn's Finest for a contest he did not win. His second prize was a subscription to the Independent Feature Project newsletter, and the script went on to gain attention in the industry.
