Plot summary
The documentary recounts the golden age of Broadway in the words of the stage legends of the 1940s and 1950s. Filming stretches across six years and gathers more than a hundred people who worked on Broadway or in Hollywood. They describe arriving in New York and helping to build that legendary century of American theater. Their accounts are set beside rare lost footage of actual stage performances, along with personal home movies and photographs never seen by the public. Historic Broadway performances are the most endangered of the arts, leaving only memories behind, which are more vivid but harder to preserve.
