Plot summary
The documentary gathers archived interviews, concert recordings and home videos to trace a rock revival that took shape in New York clubs in the late 1990s and early 2000s. A Moldy Peaches performance opens the account, and Adam Green and Julian Casablancas meet at a rooftop party, a friendship that leads the Moldy Peaches to support the Strokes on the 2001 tour behind Is This It. The Strokes, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Interpol and LCD Soundsystem are all part of that scene, whose garage rock and post-punk gained notice in the city and beyond. The September 11 attacks frame the period as a destruction of community, and the revival of punk and rock bands serves as a distraction.
