Arlene Dahl

Arlene Dahl was an American actress who started in musical theater and moved into film in the late 1940s. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, she took elocution and dancing lessons as a child and broke into New York theater with a role in Mr. Strauss Goes to Boston in 1945. After an uncredited part in Life with Father (1947), she became a leading lady in My Wild Irish Rose (1947) and signed a long-term MGM contract. Her films included Reign of Terror (1949), Scene of the Crime (1949), Watch the Birdie (1950), Woman's World (1954), Slightly Scarlet (1956), and Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959), the latter among her most successful. She also appeared in Kisses for My President (1964) and on television in One Life to Live. Dahl later wrote beauty and astrology books and founded companies such as Arlene Dahl Enterprises.
