Plot summary
Peter Sanderson is a tax attorney who works too much, lives apart from his wife Kate, and has little time for his children, Sarah and Georgie. He sets up a first meeting at his house with a woman he met in an online chat, Charlene Morton. Her photograph and profile described someone else: Charlene is a convict who corresponded with him from prison. She says she was wrongly convicted of armed robbery and wants Peter to clear her record. Peter refuses at first, then lets her stay in his home and introduces her as the family's nanny. Howie Rottman, a colleague of Peter's, takes an interest in her, and a wealthy client, Mrs. Virginia Arness, is waiting to sign with his firm.
