Plot summary
Cacopoulos sits in a cell in El Paso, condemned to hang the next day on a false charge. The bank manager Harold offers to help him escape if he brings back money that has gone missing. Freed, Cacopoulos takes the dead deputy's gun and boots, then disguises himself as a peon on a donkey and robs Cat Stevens and Hutch Bessy of their money and horses. Cat and Hutch ride after him, following his trail south into Mexico and through the villages where he has handed out money. In a village holding a fiesta he has paid for, the two men catch up with him.
