Plot summary
Paris is frightened by murders attributed to a killer called Bluebeard. A friend introduces modiste Lucille to Gaston Morrell, a puppeteer and painter. They are drawn to each other, and she takes on designing costumes for his puppets. Renee, a performer in that puppet show and Morrell's lover, is jealous. Art dealer Jean Lamarte sells Morrell's paintings, which bring high prices. Inspector Lefevre of the Sûreté leads the hunt for the killer.
