Plot summary
Karl Wagner runs the Bowery Friendly Mission, a soup kitchen where hungry men are let in and his nurse assistant Judy Malvern tends to their medical needs. In daylight the same man is Professor Frederick Brenner, whose lectures hold the attention of his students. The charity also serves as a front: Wagner recruits robbers from the men who come to it and sends them out to rob and kill, while Captain Mitchell and his men try to close in. Richard Dennison, a student, chooses the soup kitchen as the subject of his term paper because his girlfriend Judy works there.
