Plot summary
Don Gallico designs stage illusions and is a master of disguise, hoping to headline as Gallico the Great. For his debut he appears as his rival, The Great Rinaldi, and presents a buzz saw illusion of his own invention. The show is halted by a cease and desist order served by the businessman Ross Ormond, who says the trick belongs to him: Gallico's contract with Ormond's company, Illusions, Inc., gives Ormond ownership of everything he creates. Ormond wants the effect for Rinaldi's act. Gallico's wife Claire is now married to Ormond. Karen Lee, who works as Gallico's assistant, is dating the police detective Lt. Alan Bruce.
