Plot summary

When a plane goes down over the African jungle, the baby on board is sent out with a parachute just before the crash. Chimpanzees find him and raise him. As a grown man he behaves like an animal, and he still has the pacifier and the parachute harness from his infancy. An expedition seizes him and takes him to an anthropology institute in Milan, where he is kept in a cage. He is very strong, highly intelligent and perceptive. He becomes attached to Laura, a researcher at the institute, and grows close to Renato, the chimpanzee she keeps, while Laura tries to fit him into human society.
