Kevin Shepard is a high school student who would rather cut corners than study, and lying is how he stays out of trouble. The assignment he hands in is a video game of his own design. On the way to school he meets Larry Wolf, an executive in the video game business, who gets hold of the idea. Kevin ends up in summer school. While his father is away, Kevin slips out and travels to San Francisco with his best friend Becca to confront Wolf.
