Plot summary
Monica Rivers owns a circus that travels around England, and she takes the ring as its ringmistress. Albert Dorando handles the business side. Mid-performance, the tightrope walker Gaspar the Great falls to his death when his rope breaks. The police believe the rope was tampered with, though they cannot say by whom. Monica expects the death to bring publicity and larger crowds. She brings in Frank Hawkins, a tightrope artist who works above sharp bayonets and uses no net.
