Plot summary

Four boys in a small town are taken by James Whitley, a psychopath whose grotesque mission is to reunite orphaned children with the deceased birth parents they lost. The boys escape from him, and he is arrested and imprisoned. Fifteen years after the arrest, a fire at the prison lets him flee, and he sets out to finish his mission. Detective Brian Larson, one of the four Whitley abducted, is removed from the case for impartiality, leaving his partner and lover, Detective Erica Shotwell, to solve it. Driven by rage and a chance at redemption, Larson pursues Whitley on his own.
