Plot summary

Angie Albright leaves home for college in a small town, away from her devout mother, and moves in with a roommate whose habits she does not share. To pay for a bed she looks for work and answers an advertisement for a babysitter at Stanton Farm, out in the countryside. Jim Stanton and his wife Violet hire her to watch their young son Sam, a quiet boy who wears a cowboy outfit. Around campus Angie keeps running into Rick, a former altar boy. She begins to feel that someone is following her and reports it to Chief Dinneli. On the night she is due at the farm her car breaks down, and Rick drives her out there.
