Scott Spiegel
Biography
Scott Spiegel was a screenwriter, producer, director and actor from the United States. He grew up in Birmingham, Michigan, where he met Sam Raimi. In Raimi's Within the Woods, a forerunner to The Evil Dead (1981), Spiegel played Scotty, a part Richard DeManincor later took in The Evil Dead. He and Sam Raimi wrote the script for Evil Dead II (1987). In 1999 he directed From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money, a sequel released straight to video. Spiegel founded the production company Raw Nerve with Eli Roth and Boaz Yakin, and it made Hostel (2005), which Roth directed. He also brought Quentin Tarantino together with producer Lawrence Bender, a connection that helped Reservoir Dogs get made. Spiegel died in 2025.
